Fireworks, Fish, and Rolling Over

Hey everyone! So it's been awhile since I last wrote (again!). I know I promised to try and do this every week, but that is getting to be a little difficult. Especially because some weeks not much exciting happens, even though we seem so busy all the time!

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July. We got to go swimming at Jonathan's brother's house in the afternoon, had a BBQ at his parents in the evening, and watched a spectacular fireworks show that night. We even got to shoot off a few of our own (legal) fireworks too. There are quite a few left over that we're saving for Pioneer Day next week.

Benjamin LOVED the fireworks. He couldn't take his eyes off them. And when they stopped for a minute, he would look at me or Jonathan and just smile! I'm so glad, I was worried he'd be scared of them- or just sleep through the whole thing.

By the way, this picture here is of Benjamin right after one of his naps on the 4th at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Nice hair buddy!

Benjamin is getting much better at the whole sitting up thing. He has also decided it's time to start moving... he's becoming more mobile and now I have to put him in his crib for naps instead of letting him sleep in the middle of our bed. When he's laying on his back he somehow scoots around. I'm not quite sure how he does it- I've put him down in his crib with his feet against one of the ends. Then when I come back a few minutes later cause he's making fussy noises he's got his head up against the opposite end of the crib. He's done this several times and I still have not actually seen him do it. Benjamin has also rolled over from his back to his front. He did it the opposite way about a month and a half ago... I'm sure I posted that in a blog sometime.... but he never did it again. He's been rolling onto his side from his back for quite a while now, but hasn't been able to or hasn't wanted to go the rest of the way until just a couple days ago. We're excited about that, but also nervous about the idea that he's not going to stay right where we put him anymore. Ha ha.

Jonathan was able to go fishing this morning for the first time since he went in St George. He caught another super big fish... it was 21 inches and 5 1/2 pounds! This is one of the biggest bass that Jonathan has ever caught.

And a bull frog... yes, he caught it with his fishing lure:

Jonathan is going to write about what happened:

I was bringing my topwater lure in and I saw a small splash, at first I thought it was a small bass or a big bluegill because it wasn't fighting much and was completely surprised to see this bullfrog on the end of my line, it actually ate my lure! It had all three hooks inside of its mouth and it took at least 5 minutes to get it unhooked. I have caught thousands of fish in my life, but I have never had one of these on the end of my line! It must have been at least 9 or 10 inches long.
Pretty cool, huh?
Oh! For those of you who would like a trip down memory lane, or those who missed it altogether, you can watch a nice slideshow of our wedding on our photographer's website. We didn't find out that she had posted our pictures on her website until just this past week when someone asked my mom how we liked using Jennifer for our photographer. My mom asked the lady how she knew we had used Jennifer and the lady said our pictures were on the website! So if you want to see them go to www.jennifergilmore.com and click on Weddings. Then click on our names and the slideshow will start. Enjoy! We did :)
That's about it for now. As always, we would love to hear from each of you to let us know how you're all doing. Love from the three of us!

Fun Times

So, we started Benjamin on solids a couple weeks ago. He LOVED his sweet potatoes... after just 3 bites or so he was an expert at opening his mouth, getting the food off the spoon, and then swallowing (most!) of it. It was fun to see him enjoy it so much.... and we took lots and lots of pictures.

About 5 days later we tried peas... the reaction wasn't quite like the sweet potatoes. As you can see, Benjamin does not like peas! This is such a funny picture, even though I know how he feels and it's not fun to have a mouth full of something you don't like! We'll try again in a couple weeks. Right now we're still going strong with sweet potatoes and carrots, both which make it down into the tummy quite easily! We've got a few more veggies we want to try, then we're planning on introducing the cereals- oatmeal, barley, rice, etc. This should be fun to see which foods he likes and which ones he doesn't!

Tyler and Cassidee's wedding was beautiful! It was nice to see a lot of family members that we don't see very often. Benjamin got to meet quite a few extended family members that he didn't know before... most important was my older brother, Richard, who has been in New York for the past few years serving in the Army. Richard also got to meet Jonathan for the first time too! And you can probably imagine how excited my mom was to have *ALL* her children together for the first time in years... here is a picture of all 5 of us outside the Temple:

We had a lot of fun at the receptions too! The first one was Friday night here in Orem, Utah and the second one was Saturday night in St. George, Utah. Here's a lovely picture of us with the happy bride and groom!

We were lucky enough to be able to spend a couple extra days in St George to play and have fun. Benjamin had a blast in the pool at the condo we stayed at. He is getting good at "kicking" and has even been practicing in the bathtub here at home a couple times since we've been back.

Jonathan also got to go fishing and took my brother Nick with him. They each caught some pretty good fish...

Well, it's been so long since my last post that I have a lot of things to report. But I promise this is the last thing for today! Benjamin is now doing really well at sitting up for long periods of time by himself. And Boy! does he think it's grand!

Happy Fourth of July to everyone... hopefully I'll have more time early next week to post another blog. We should have some good pictures from our Fourth of July activities and fun stuff that Benjamin decides to do! Love to all...
