This Past Week

What we did this past week:

We went fishing with Uncle Rob and Aunt Dianne in their boat
We went swimming at the local pool

We ate our veggies (one of us had to be bribed with applesauce to eat his... *cough* Benjamin *cough*... but at least we all ate them!)

We also went to a slip 'n slide party but I didn't have my camera so we're waiting to get those pictures from my sister-in-law. And Uncle Evan came down from Salt Lake on Friday night to watch the boys for us while we got to go out on a real date without them. Thanks Evan, the boys love having you around. :)

Next week- packing, packing, cleaning, and packing. Monday night we're having dinner out with friends. Jonathan is going on a backpacking trip for 4 days. Bowling is also an option for the little boys and me while he's gone and perhaps Discovery Gateway, the kids museum in Salt Lake.

Really??

Friday night at dinner Benjamin stopped eating his pasta and came and sat on my lap and asked to try some of my salad. I had made a salad with fresh spinach and had chosen balsamic vinegrette as a dressing and Benjamin actually TRIED it and ATE it and LIKED it. If anyone knows my kid, you know he wouldn't eat anything green (even if it was covered in pasta sauce or cheese or ketchup). On Saturday we were getting ready to leave for a 4th of July BBQ when Benjamin said he was hungry. So I gave him a plate of spinach and some balsamic vinegrette "dippies." How did it go the second time around? Take a look:

Success!!!

Sweeping

Someone once told me that "a smart mom works her way out of a job." Here are my two favorite baby boys sweeping up their dinner mess from the floor.
I had to come behind them and do the actual cleaning part, but it's a good start. And at least they are playing nice together.

Random Vacation Pictures

Ok, sorry to fill your google readers, bloglines, etc. with posts about our vacation and I promise this is the last one. I tried to just post pictures and not give detailed explanations of what we did and how much fun we had. Just trust us that we had a good time :)

Being dragged around by Pepere on a blanket is so much fun. The boys are even willing to be nice to each other so they can play longer!
This is my favorite picture from the trip. Benjamin was being really quiet one day while hanging out in Grammy's room while she was doing some work on the computer. I went looking for him and found him in Pepere's drawer eating a candy bar he found there. No wonder he was so quiet- he didn't want to get caught because he knew he wouldn't be able to eat any more candy!
Here we are playing RockBand. I'm in love with the game now and am planning on saving my money so we can get it for our Wii. Beach Time! We took some family pictures down at the beach and here are a few of the candid ones. Mom has all the "real" ones and I'll have to post those once she gets me copies.
Pool Time!
We loved having my big brother, Richard, come for the weekend and hang out with us. This is the second time he has seen Benjamin and his first time meeting Daniel. Richard is in the army and our vacations to California don't always match up with his leave time.

La Jolla Tide Pools - July 1st

We visited the La Jolla Tide Pools on Wednesday, our last full day in Oceanside.

San Diego Wild Animal Park- June 30th

The tickets we bought included admission to the Wild Animal Park (in addition to SeaWorld and the Zoo) so we spent a few hours there on Tuesday.

San Diego Zoo- June 27th

Our camera battery died while we were at the zoo so we didn't get very many pictures of our time there.

SeaWorld- June 26th AND June 29th

SeaWorld was so fun, we went twice! The first day we got there right when it opened at 9am and stayed until about 6 or 7pm. The second time we went we got there around 3:30pm and left about 9pm after seeing the evening shoe. Here are some of our favorite pictures:

Benjamin absolutely LOVED the beluga whales. We could not get him away from them.
And of course, Shamu, who Benjamin calls "Shampoo."

Travel Town- June 24th

Before heading down to Oceanside for a week, we took a short trip to Travel Town in Griffith Park with the boys to get them out of the house for a bit. The place is full of trains for the boys to explore. Here are a few pictures...
